2005: the year in concerts.
There have been a lot of things going on in my life this year, more than ever before. Most of it have been related to music somehow, so why not say something about that? I'll tell you all the stories sometime, but now is not the time for that. I've been to more shows than ever before this year, mostly because I'm finally 18, and can get in everywhere. So I so thought should try to summarize them right now. If only I can remember everything...

16/3: Modern Life Is War/Converge - That show was just amazing. The whole thing was so awesome. We were eight friends who drove down to Linköping, which is like 200 km from Stockholm, where I live. That was just insane, it was so fun. And the show was... well, both Modern Life Is War and Converge blew my mind away. Converge is one of the favourite bands, and it was wild. I love hardcore concerts! Didn't get home until seven the following morning, but that was ok. I was gonna skip school anyway, had the rehearse with my band before going out on tour on my own.

18/3: Svartskrot/Suis la Lune/Protestera - This was the most insane weekend of my life...The band I used to play in then, Suis la Lune (not playing with them anymore because of personal reasons, tell you about it later. I fucked up for real...) were going on a mini tour to Sandviken and Umeå, which far, far from here. This was in Sandviken, at a hardcore collective, Kungen. Svartskrot was a local band, and Protestera is a really great punk band from Sweden, and they were great. Really nice guys too. We slept there that night, resting for the day after, which was gonna be a lot of travelling...

20/3: Suis la Lune/Personkrets 3:1/Ambulance - After one day of travelling, we slept at Maria's house. She's the best, she was the one who arranged our gig up in Umeå. She's wonderful. The day after, 20/3, we just walked around in the town, having a good time. In the afternoon, we started to carry all our equipment to Hamnmagasinet, this famous place. Umeå is the hardcore nest of Sweden. It's the only place where McDonald's actually had to close because no one ate there. Anyway, the show went really well, and it's was exciting to see Ambulance, a famous band in the punk/hardcore scene here in Sweden. The day after the show was spent going home, a ten hour bus trip. And we had all gotten sick... That was not fun. But well, that weekend was totally insane.

8/4: New Decade - A couple of friends of mine, great gig. I think I've seen them about eight times now...

7/5: Suis la Lune - This was our famous basement gig, we played in the basement of Henning's (the singer) house. Another crazy weekend, lots of people were there, even Maria and a couple of her friends had come down from Umeå to see us... His house was a collective for that entire weekend, it was so much fun...

7/7: Accelerator the Big One - A one-day music festival, it was wonderful. I saw Magnolia Electric Co., Stars, Caribou, Smog, Teenage Fanclub and Sonic Youth there. All of those except for Stars are some of my favourite bands. Missed some as well, like Devendra Banhart, CocoRosie etc.

8/8: Dinosaur Jr. - So exciting to see them! And they had a great opening act, an american hc band, can't remember their name though. Too bad. Anyway, that was a fun show, except for the fact that parts of the audience were too drunk, and really annoying...

6/10: 1999/Caribou - Second time I saw Caribou this year. Again, that was a great show. They´re a wonderful live band. 1999 is Swedish post-punk. They were really good.

8/10: Blue Foundation/Mew - Great show by two great live bands. Enough said.

1/11: Amina/Sigur Rós - Another great day. Anima was a joy to see live, they were so playful, and created really beautiful music. Sigur Rós was the most powerful and magnificent show I've ever seen. I could've stood there in front of the stage forever. That's how it felt.

2/11: Of Montreal - They were a good live band, and it was a lot of fun to see them.

3/11: Iisole/Suis la Lune/Scraps of Tape - This was very hard emotionally for me, since wasn't playing in Suis la Lune anymore, and it also had with some personal things to do. Anyway, Iisole sucked, Suis la Lune were great as always, and Scraps of Tape were amazing. They're a wonderful band, Swedish instrumental post-rock, a light version av Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

5/11: Ladyfest Stockholm - A great day, saw Mary Lou Lord, the Peppermints, Northern State and the Gossip. Mary and teh Peppermints were both great, but Northern State and the Gossip was nothing like anything I've ever whitnessed before. They really opened my eyes to let me see things I've never seen before. It was wonderful.

7/11: Architecture In Helsinki - It was a bad and boring show. I had hoped so much more from a band that sounds so good on record. All the magic was gone.

14/11: Teenage Fanclub - Second time this year, and this time was even greater than the first. They are the best pop band in the world, enough said. A drunk guy spilled beer over me, but he was dragged out by the guards later, that was so fun to see.

15/11: Nix Noltes/Animal Collective - Two amazing bands, a great show! Animal Collecitve were more energetic than anything I've seen before.

6/12: Broken Social Scene - The show of the year.

7/12: The Locust - They blew my mind away.

21/12: Taxi, taxi! - Friends of mine, and they're so great! This was their first live show ever, and they played at Debaser, the famous rock club! It was beautiful.

23/12: Doktor Kosmos - No band can inspire you as much as they can, they're a great band and this was an amazing show.

I'm sure I've forgotten a couple of shows now, but anyway...

Some of the shows I really wanted to go to, for some reason didn't:
Arcade Fire, Mars Volta (already seen them twice, but they're a great live band), Isis/Logh (must've been INSANE!), Lou Barlow, Mono (I'm so sad that I missed this one...), Nile, Blood Brothers, Electric Eel Shock. Those are the ones I can think of right now. Well, over all, it's been a great concert year!
